PRIESTLY JOY AT WATARE!
The small village of Watare in the parish of Londa,
was jubilant on 30th of December, 2017, as it
prepared for the Priestly Ordination of two
brothers, Deac. Peter Pereira OCD and Deac.
Sebastian Pereira SJ. The ordaining prelate, Most
Rev. Peter Machado said that in Christmas Season we
celebrate the birth of Jesus and on this day twins
are born into the priesthood! Further he noted, how
along the highway there are many boards warning
people of the presence of wild animals in the area.
Now we had to put up a new one near Watare: Priests
and Sisters are here!
There were over 50 priests who concelebrated at the
Mass, prominent among whom were the two provincials:
Fr. Charles Serrao OCD of the Carmelites and Fr.
Roland Coelho SJ of the Jesuits.
Fr. Wilfred Frank OCD, the parish priest of Holy
Family Church Londa, along with the parishioners saw
that all the arrangements were made for the
auspicious occasion. While the Jesuits planned the
liturgy, the angelic choir comprising the locals was
trained by the Carmelite regent, Br. Naveen Lobo. A
short felicitation programme followed the solemn
Eucharist. A few benefactors of Fr. Peter who were
able to be present on the occasion were given a
token of appreciation.
The Karnataka-Goa Province has a new priest and so
does the Society of Jesus (Jesuits)! We wish them
happiness and contentment in their future ministry.
Fr. Peter Pereira, has been assigned to the
community at Dhyanashram, our retreat centre at
Rajodi in the Diocese of Vasai. Our gratitude to the
family especially the parents: Mr. Francis Pereira
and Mrs. Aveline Pereira.
