The Carmelite Family of the Bengaluru Region celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the 14th of July, 2024, at the serene Cloistered Carmel Monastery Chapel in Bengaluru. The Thanksgiving Holy Mass commenced at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Fr. Alphonse Britto OCD, Provincial Councillor, along with other esteemed O. Carm, OCD, and CMI priests. Rev. Fr. Rinson Manjaly O. Carm, Principal, Carmel Academy delivered a brief yet profoundly meaningful homily, inviting all to walk in the footsteps of Mary. Rev. Fr. Paulachan Kochappilly, CMI, blessed the scapulars, which were later distributed to everyone.

The event was graced by the presence of OCD, CSST, AC, CTC, and CM sisters from various parts of Namma Bengaluru. The melodious choir, composed of students from Mount Carmel College, elevated the minds and hearts of the participants to God with their harmonious singing. After the Mass, the fathers and sisters had the opportunity to meet the cloistered nuns, gaining insight into their contemplative lives within the confines of Carmel.

The gathering was further enriched with engaging games and ice-breaking events, fostering fraternity and unity among the Carmelites. Fr. Alphonse Britto, the convenor of CFI Bengaluru Region, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all who dedicated their time to be part of this unique celebration. He also extended his thanks to the executive members and informed the gathering about the upcoming centenary celebration of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in 2025, seeking collaboration and cooperation from all congregations.

Dharmaram was chosen as the venue for the next Carmelite gathering and the Feast of Mount Carmel, with the date to be finalized in due course. Sr. Clarice AC proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a festive meal shared by all, marking the end of a beautiful gathering. Attendees expressed their gratitude to the cloistered nuns for providing the venue for the gathering and to each other for the spirit of Carmel experienced throughout the day.
