OCDS Events at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Community, Margao
On July 21, 2024, the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community celebrated a momentous occasion, as members took their Promises, marking a significant transition from Aspirancy to Promises.

On July 18,2024, the members fortified themselves spiritually by recollection and confession given by Rev. Fr. Santosh Menezes. Rev. Fr. Diogo Proenca also assisted for confession.

The evening of July 21st, 2024, began with everyone coming together for Holy Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Deep Fernandes OCD, Provincial Delegate, with Fr. Marlon Rodrigues OCD, Superior, and Rev. Fr. Lancy Mendonca OCD, Spiritual Assistant. During the Eucharistic Celebration, Savio Pereira provided the commentary.

Rev. Fr. Deep delivered a heartfelt homily on the theme of being the Good Shepherd. After which the following members were admitted into the different stages of Formation and Renewals:

2 members took Temporary Promises, 6 renewed their Promises, 3 were admitted into Formation and 3 into Aspirancy.

Temporary Promises:
1. Inez Fernandes of St Joseph and Mary.
2. Anna Da Costa of St. Therese of the Child Jesus

Renewal of Temporary Promises:
1.Anne Dias of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
2.Sophia Viegas of St. Elijah.
3.Elsa Fernandes of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
4. Mathil Jane of Edith Stein.
5.Cheryl Fernandes of St. Teresa of Avila
6. Loretta D'Costa of St. Therese of the Child Jesus

Formation 1 (Investiture):
1. Meena D'Souza of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
2. Maria Luis of Jesus Crucified
3. Otilia Henriques.

Aspirancy :
1. Dwayne Fernandes
2. Leoniz Gomes
3. Elvena Pereira.

During the Admittance, Carol Mascarenhas – OCDS Formator, called out the names one by one as each member took their vows.

After the Eucharistic Celebration, a warm and enjoyable fellowship gathering took place in the Main Hall, beginning with a welcome note by Leoniz Gomes welcoming the zealous Provincial Delegate Rev. Fr Deep Fernandes (OCD), Rev Fr. Marlon Rodrigues OCD Superior , Rev Fr Lancy Mendonca OCD Spiritual Assistant, all the Carmelite Friars, Apostulants, the OCDS President Elizabeth Santos , Sebastián Mendes, President of OCDS Provincial Council and Provincial Councillor Roy Rodrigues along with President Martha Pereira, of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Community , along with the members of both the communities, This was followed by cutting of the cake where all the members sang a song of blessing and congratulations to the newly formatted members.

Rev. Fr Deep, Rev. Fr. Marlon and Rev. Fr. Lancy each shared their wisdom welcoming and blessing all members during the celebration.

To start the evening on a high note, the postulant brothers then performed a beautiful song entertaining everyone.

During the gathering, several members showcased their talents through performances, including singing and dancing.

Refreshments were served, and the evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Elizabeth Santos, the OCDS President, Mt. Carmel Community.
Mathil Jane anchored the event with a lively and upbeat style.
