Training Programme for Koteshwar Secular
Carmelites (OCDS) Members: A Revitalized Approach
The Canonically established Secular Carmel Community (OCDS) of St.
Teresa of Avila, Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru-575005, affiliated with St.
Joseph’s Monastery at Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru, organized a day-long
training programme for the Infant Jesus OCDS Community, Koteshwar.
The event took place at the Community Hall in Koteshwar on June 17,
2024, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm
The formal inauguration was conducted by Rev. Fr. Praveen Pinto,
Superior and Rev. Fr. Joseph Cyril Dsouza, the Spiritual Assistant
of the Koteshwar unit. This was followed by an icebreaker session
led by Mr. Roshan Varun, OCDS. The first session presented by Mrs.
Jane Sequeira, OCDS, covered the OCDS Charism, Vocation, Mission,
and Identity (Constitution Chapter I), as the Nature and Daily Life
of the members of the Secular Order. After a short break, group
games were organized by Mr. Roshan Varun, OCDS.
The second session again led by Mrs. Jane Sequeira, OCDS, focussed
on St. Albert’s Rule and Allegiance to Jesus Christ. This was
followed by the third session - a session on steps to Meditation led
by Mrs. Jacintha Lobo, OCDS. During lunch the members had the
opportunity to share their experiences and discuss their prayer
lives.
Following lunch, the fourth session was conducted by Mrs. Laveena
Dmello, OCDS, on Self-Discovery, Building Self-Esteem, and
Developing a Positive Attitude. This was a lively session filled
with group participation and activities.
The training program concluded with celebration of the Holy
Eucharist marking the end of a fruitful and enjoyable day for all
participants.
