Inauguration of the Initiation Course, Mapusa - Goa
4th of June, 2017 marked the beginning of a new
academic year at Avila Jyothi, Carmelite Seminary, Mapusa,
Goa. Fr. Charles Serrao, the Provincial Superior presided
over the Sunday Eucharist, which was also the Solemnity of
Pentecost. The 17 aspirants joined the celebrants in the
entrance procession. Then they all lighted their candles
from the flame held by Fr. Provincial, by which they
symbolically manifested their desire to follow Christ - the
light of the world. All these candles were placed close to
the altar, and remained burning all through the Eucharist.

At the end of the Mass, Fr. Ivo Dias, the newly appointed
Superior introduced the formative community and the
aspirants to the faithful gathered in the Chapel. Besides
the local community, Fr. Pius James D’Souza, Fr. Silvestre
D’Souza, Fr. John Pinto (Arva), Fr. Anil Prashant Lobo, Fr.
Augustine Robert, Fr. Ashwin D’Silva and Bro. Malvino were
present. A meeting of the Regional Vocation Promoters
followed.
We congratulate these young men on have courageously
answered the call of God and we thank the Vocation Promoters
who have helped them discern their vocation to Carmel. May
God bless you all abundantly.
