Regional Recollection @ Divya Sadan
The Friars of Bengaluru Region gathered together for a day of
recollection on March 31, 2021 the closing day of the fiscal year in
close preparation for the Easter Triduum at Divya Sadan, Geddalahalli –
Bengaluru.
The program began with a welcome drink of nimbu paniya which made the
friars feel cool as the day’s temperature rose to 35 C. Fr Jaya Rathnam,
the nephew of late Msgr. Japamalai who helped us to have Vijayanagar and
Hegdenagar Parishes preached the recollection talk. In his simple
sharing he presented St Joseph as a model for consecrated men and women.
After receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation, the Friars gathered in
the chapel for the Eucharistic adoration led by Fr Vijay D’Costa. As the
Province celebrated the Ruby Jubilee of its existence, Fr Arun Bennis,
helped the members to recall God’s blessing one by one and to thank Him
for His bounty. Fr Vijay in his reflection helped us to go back to the
moment where God called us twice [Biblically calling twice is a sign of
intimacy, urgency and importance] and the moment where we said yes to
him. Later the Friars invoked the blessings of the Eucharistic Lord on
various needs of the Province as it marches towards its Golden Jubilee.
Later each Community of the Region shared their mission and vision for
the Triennium. The Benjamin of the Region Fr Adarsh offered a bouquet of
flowers to Fr Provincial, the head of the family to mark the Ruby
Jubilee. Fr Provincial along with the senior most members of the
Province present, Frs. Isidore and Paul cut the jubilee cake. The day of
fraternity and recollection ended with a Lenten meal prepared with much
love. They all exclaimed, “Indeed it was very good!” The Friars of
Bengaluru region grateful to the community of Divya Sadan for the
systematic and painstaking arrangements made towards the regional
recollection.
