Centenary Celebration of the Sainthood and
Solemnity of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus
The Cloistered Carmel, Mysore, joyfully celebrated the Centenary of
the Sainthood and the Solemnity of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus on
October 1, 2025, with deep devotion and spiritual fervour.
The Holy Eucharist, the central event of the celebration, was
solemnly presided over by Rev. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, OCD, the
Vicar Provincial. His inspiring homily drew the congregation into
the heart of St. Thérèse’s “little way” of love and trust in God.
Adding depth to the celebration, Rev. Fr. Oswald Crasta, OCD, gave a
thought-provoking presentation on the relevance of St. Thérèse’s
poems in today’s world, enriched with a PowerPoint display that
brought out the saint’s poetic soul and spiritual wisdom.
The liturgy was further enhanced by the chorus singing of the
Pushpashrama Brothers, whose melodious voices lifted hearts in
prayer. A graceful prayer dance by the Bethany Sisters beautifully
expressed the spirit of simplicity and love that marked St.
Thérèse’s life. The Prayer of the Faithful was devoutly led by the
CSST Sisters Juniorate, while the Mass hymns were jointly rendered
by the Capuchin Brothers from Kripalaya and the Cloistered Carmel
Sisters, creating a truly harmonious and prayerful atmosphere.
A short video on the life of St. Thérèse, directed by Rev. Fr.
Archibald Gonsalves, served as the highlight of the celebration. The
film, portraying the saint’s deep faith and love for Jesus, was
highly appreciated by all present for its inspiring message and
artistic presentation.
The day’s celebration was a fitting tribute to the “Little Flower”
who continues to inspire countless souls to love and serve God in
simplicity and humility.
