A Dream Fulfilled: St. Joseph Chapel Now
Secure Within God’s Shelter
A dream nurtured for four decades has finally been realized! The
long-standing need to safeguard the property of St. Joseph Chapel,
Ramnagar, has come to fruition. For years, the open grounds—though
sacred—remained vulnerable to trespassing. To some, it was a green
pasture; to neighbours, a pleasant picnic spot; and to passersby, an
easy shortcut. Yet, growing concerns among the faithful over the
misuse of this holy place made it imperative to act.
Responding to this need, construction of a compound wall began in
July 2025 and was completed successfully. As the Psalmist affirms,
“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will
find refuge” (Psalm 91:4). This new protective enclosure now stands
as a tangible sign of God’s sheltering care.
On 12 October 2025, the newly built wall and gate were solemnly
blessed by Rev. Fr. Cyprian Fernandes, OCD, Parish Priest and
Superior. Before the blessing, the altar server reverently opened
the gate, and Rev. Fr. Joachim Rodrigues, OCD, Provincial Councillor
for Apostolate and Mission, cut the ribbon in the esteemed presence
of Mr. Shivaji Igle, both the contractor and generous benefactor.
Following the blessing and inauguration, the faithful joined in a
thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration, graciously presided over by
Fr. Joachim Rodrigues, offering heartfelt gratitude to God for His
countless blessings. After the Mass, benefactors were felicitated in
appreciation of their invaluable support.
In his address, Fr. Cyprian expressed sincere thanks to Mr. Shivaji
Igle for his meticulous supervision of the construction and generous
contribution. He also extended heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr.
Silvestre D’Souza, Provincial Superior, the Provincial Council, and
the entire Province for their generosity and encouragement. He
further acknowledged the active participation of all parish
families, whose collective support made this long-awaited project
possible.
Special praise was offered to Fr. Joachim Rodrigues for his
leadership and commitment, which ensured the project’s successful
completion.
This achievement stands as a testimony to faith, unity, and
perseverance. As Scripture exhorts, “Let us consider how we may spur
one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24). Indeed,
this wall now not only guards the physical boundaries but also
protects the spiritual sanctity of our beloved St. Joseph Chapel.
