Mission Sale by the Mapusa OCDS Community
The St. Teresa of Avila OCDS Community, Mapusa, held its first
Mission Sale on Sunday, 12th October 2025, at the Carmelite
Monastery, Mapusa, Goa. Inspired by their patron saint’s words —
“Accustom yourself continually to make many acts of love, for they
enkindle and melt the soul” — the members came together to organize
a small yet splendid sale of homemade food items as an act of love
and service to others.
The mission sale was held after the Sunday Masses and featured a
delightful variety of Goan and continental delicacies. Savoury items
included Goan Sorpotel, Sannas, and a snack box filled with ribbon
sandwiches, beef chops, chicken spring rolls, and prawn rissois. For
those with a sweet tooth, the dessert counter offered brownies,
doughnuts, and rich rum balls, which were a big hit among
parishioners.
The churchgoers wholeheartedly supported the initiative, and by
noon, every item had been sold out. The proceeds from the sale will
go toward supporting Carmelite charitable works, particularly in
aiding the poor and the needy.
This first Mission Sale proved to be a truly enriching and humbling
experience for the OCDS members. Grateful for the encouragement
received from the community, they hope to continue this initiative
in the future, spreading the love of Christ through simple yet
meaningful acts of service.
