Nativity and Family Feast celebrated at Bajjodi
The feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also
called the Monti Fest, was celebrated with devotion at
bajjodi on Saturday September 8th. Blessing of the Corn was
held at Lourdes grotto. The congregation went in a
procession to the church singing devotional hymns,
accompanied by a brass band with Bambina Mary. After the
procession the beautiful age old tradition of children
showering flowers at Mother Mary's statue was performed with
the accompaniment of hymns. Rev. Fr. Lancy Lewis was the
main Celebrant. Parish Priest Fr. Ivan D’souza, Fr. Patrick
Lobo, Fr. Rovel D’souza, Deac. Macson Dabre concelebrated in
the Eucharist. In his homily, Fr Lancy Lewis expounded the
uniqueness of the feast and stressed on the role of the
family in the church. At the end, Fr. Ivan D’souza honoured
the main sponsors as well as thanked everyone for their
whole hearted support for the success of the feast. New
grains and sugar canes were distributed to the parishioners.
Evening at 6pm, the Parish family joined together in the
parish Hall for cultural extravaganza. The celebrations
initiated with a Prayer song by the Altar Servers. Fr. Ivan
D’souza, Fr. Patrick Lobo, Fr. Jocy D’souza , Deacon Macson
Dabre, Br. Morgan Vice President, Mr. Joseph Mascarenhas,
Secretary Irene Pinto, Coporator Keshav were present for the
programme. In the beginning Mr. Joseph Mascarenhas welcomed
the gathering. Soon after the welcome dance parish choir
sang the wishing song. Fr. Patrick lobo in his message
stressed that these should be always joy in the family. 10
Wards & Parish Association members entertained everyone with
a beautiful dances as well as variety Programs. The
congregation was also treated to a meaningful family skit
called “Parivartan” written by Stella D’souza. Parish
Priest, Fr. Ivan D’souza thanked the parishioners who
exerted great efforts to make this event an outstanding
success. Rishel Suvarna compered the programme. Mrs. Irene
Pinto issued the message of thanks. Sweet vorn flavored with
the blessed new corn was blessed by Fr. Jocy Dsouza. At the
end, all were served with the traditional vegetarian meal
with variety of vegetables and alu-dento and vorn
recollecting the sweet memories of Novem Jevan.
