Annual Easter Gathering of the KG Province
Friars in Italy
The annual Easter gathering of the KG province diaspora in Italy
took place on April 4th and 5th, 2024, at the serene Santuario della
Madonnina in Capannori. The event was a vibrant confluence of
Carmelite communities, with representatives from Santa Maria della
Scala in Rome and Santa Maria a Ripa in Empoli joining together in
celebration. Br. Ruben, representing the student community of
Teresianum.
The cornerstone of the event was the Holy Eucharist, a sacred
ceremony presided over by Fr. Selva Kumar. Fr. Noel complemented the
service with a reflective discourse, enriching the spiritual
experience for all attendees. The congregation comprised not only
the faithful but also members of the Secular Carmel and the
Capannori community of the UCT sisters, fostering a sense of unity
and inclusivity within the Carmelite family.
In addition to the spiritual nourishment, attendees were treated to
culinary delights crafted by the renowned Michelin star chef Fr.
Prakash Rebello and his team. A sumptuous dinner on the 4th and an
exquisite lunch on the 5th added a touch to the gathering, enhancing
the sense of joy and fellowship among participants.
The highlight of this year's gathering was a momentous event held on
the evening of April 5th. The Capannori community had the distinct
honor of hosting the General Councils of the two orders of Carmel -
the OCD and the O.Carm - for a gracious tea reception. The spirit of
Carmel permeated the gathering in its entirety, leaving a lasting
impression on all those in attendance.
