Young priests unite at
Vadodara
The young priests of the K.G. Province
congregated at the newly inaugurated
monastery which was dedicated to St Therese
of Child Jesus at Gorwa, Vadodara for their
annual meeting which commenced on 22 and
concluded on 25 august 2016. The formal
inauguration of the meeting was held on
August 22 at 7-30 pm, where Rev Fr George
Santhumayor, Councilor for Ongoing formation
presided over the Eucharistic celebration
along with the 11 young priests of our
province. The traditional way of lighting
the lamp which gave a green signal for the
meeting. Fr George in his homily invited all
the young priests to be witnesses in our
religious communities by becoming the role
models and exemplary religious. The
following days of the meeting included
sharing of the enriching experiences and
challenges of the young priests and the
input session. Fr Anthonappa, from the
diocese of Ahmedabad enlightened the
youngsters as regards the practical
knowledge concerning mixed marriages,
canonical procedures and pastoral issues to
be practiced when we render our ministry in
various places and parishes of our province.
Rev Fr Charles Serrao, Provincial shared
some of his delightful experiences among the
young priests and answering some of the
queries of the participants gave some
practical guidelines so as to become men of
prayer in our religious life. The young
priests also had the opportunity to
celebrate the mass with the Cloistered
Carmel convent chapel on August 23 and also
the anticipated birthday of Fr Provincial at
the Gorwa parish on August 24. The final day
was set aside for picnic where the entire
group had the privilege of visiting the
famous Akshardham temple, Sabarmati Ashram
and Kakaria lake in Gandhi Nagar and
Ahmedabad. The convener of the meeting Fr
Sunil along with Fr Kaushik who deserve a
sincere pat on the back, made all the
necessary arrangements which enabled all the
participants to feel at home. Thus the
meeting of the young priests at Gorwa became
a memorable event which enhanced the
participants to be more committed Carmelites
in our Province.
