The Eucharistic Celebration was held on August 16, 2025 and was presided
over by Rev. Fr Deep F. Fernandes OCD, Provincial Delegate of the OCDS
in the Karnataka-Goa Province. The Spiritual Assistants of both the
communities, Rev Fr Diego Proenca, OCD and Rev Fr Don Tony D’Souza OCD
concelebrated the Mass at the Carmelite Monastery, Margao.
During The Rites of Temporary Promises, four members publicly pledged to
live the spirit of Carmel in their secular state and that the experience
of the period of formation has confirmed them the certitude that the
Lord is calling them to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the world in
union with Mary Mother of God and under her protection. We give thanks
to God for the gift of these four members and we pray that they may grow
in holiness and fidelity as they continue their journey within the
Discalced Carmelite Secular Order. Fr Deep Fernandes, together with the
Spiritual Assistants, Presidents and Formators wished peace to the four
members.
After the Mass, the communities shared a joyous moment of fellowship.
This joint celebration was a beautiful expression of unity in the
Carmelite family, and a reminder of the grace and responsibility of
belonging to the Order. The event was anchored by Mrs Concy Mendes who
welcomed Rev Fr Marlon Rodrigues OCD, the Superior of the monastery, Rev
Fr Don Tony D’Souza, Rev Fr Diago Pronenca, Fr Kiran Lobo, and Fr
Santosh Menezes and the gathering and introduced Fr Deep Fernandes as a
man with a green Hand. The four members cut the cake and both the
communities turned their appreciations into a song. Mrs Joyce Fernandes
and Mr Gleeson expressed their sentiments about their journey in Carmel.
Both the presidents, Mrs Ramilla Rodrigues of St Therese of Child Jesus
Community and Mrs Elizabeth Santos of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Community, presented a token of love and gratitude to Rev Fr Deep. With
a vote of thanks from Mr Savio Pereir,a the celebration concluded on a
note of joy and gratitude.
