Teachers’ Seminar on “De-stressing Education” at Pushpashrama, Mysore
The Pushpashrama Institute of Philosophy and Religion, Mysore, under the
leadership of Rev. Fr. Dr. Wilfred Rodrigues, Dean of Studies, organized
a half-day seminar on the theme “De-stressing Education: Making
Academics Stress-free for Teachers and Students.”
The event, held on 23rd August 2025, brought together over 300 teachers.
The inaugural session began with a prayer led by the Pushpashrama
brothers, followed by a warm welcome address from Rev. Fr. Oswald Crasta,
Rector.
Fr. Wilfred, who conducted the proceedings, introduced the eminent
speakers who enriched the seminar:
1. Dr. Lancy D’Souza, Professor of Psychology, University of Mysore,
delivered the keynote, addressing stress in its various dimensions of
life.
2. Dr. Asha P. Pathrose, Assistant Professor, St. Joseph’s College of
Education, spoke on stress management for teachers, offering practical
and insightful strategies.
3. Dr. Hita Claudia Rao, Assistant Professor of Psychology, University
of Mysore, focused on student stress management, emphasizing the
importance of creative and supportive learning environments.
The seminar concluded at 1:00 p.m., followed by a fellowship meal. The
programme proved to be a valuable initiative in promoting education as a
joyful, balanced, and transformative experience for both teachers and
students. Participants expressed appreciation for the meticulous
organization of the seminar, the relevance of the theme, and the choice
of expert resource persons.
