Br Jignesh Kumar says YES to the LORD
The Eternal City by now is decked with a festive look as it
prepares to welcome Jesus the new-born King. In the middle of
the Advent season, the entire Carmelite Order had the reason to
rejoice and celebrate the solemnity of St. John of the Cross,
reformer of the Order and the mystical doctor of the Church. In
fact, on December 14, the joy at the Collegio Internazionale San
Giovanni della Croce, Rome, was doubled. Six of its friars
pursuing their theological studies, hailing from five different
nations, pronounced their Perpetual vows in the hands of Very
Rev. Saverio Canistra, the Superior General who also presided
over the festal Eucharistic celebration at the Teresianum chapel
at 6.00 p.m. Rome time. It was also a proud moment to remember
and to cherish for the Carmelites of the Karnataka-Goa Province
as Br. Jignesh Kumar of St. Therese of Child Jesus consecrated
himself to Jesus for life through the three Evangelical Counsels
of chastity, poverty, and obedience. On account of the
prevailing COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration was moderate
with the presence of the members only of three communities of
friars and the Carmelite nuns residing at the Teresianum campus.
Nevertheless, it was a momentous and a meaningful celebration
with a well-animated liturgy combined with the Gregorian and the
Italian chants. The Provincial Superior and the entire Carmelite
community of our Province congratulate Br. Jignesh on the
occasion of his perpetual commitment to the Lord and wish him a
gracious and a fruitful religious life in Carmel.
