Blessing of Perpetual Help Nivas (Teachers’ Block)
A house is made of brick and mortar, but home is made by the
people who live there.
Carmelgiri, a monastery established on a far land of the state
of Gulbarga to sow the seeds of the Good news of Christ
witnessed a full-fledged joy on the blessed day of the solemnity
of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary by
inaugurating ‘Perpetual Help Nivas’ – a residential home for the
teachers. Having an illustrious school that provides state of
the art education to the poor and backward people of the
society, there developed a great necessity of having a
residential house for the teachers. Since, the school is
situated in a remote village called Kadaganchi and qualified
teachers are unavailable in the vicinity, the residence was very
much needed to recruit the teachers from other districts and
make them feel comfortable. The providential blessing came
through the family of Fr. Walter Lobo, a conventual of the
community wherein Mr. Anand Pinto and Mrs Meryl Lobo (niece of
Fr Walter) came forward to generously patronize the edifice for
the perusal of the school. Despite the pandemic slowing down the
construction of the house, it was a great blessing to inaugurate
the house on the solemnity of our Mother to whom the house is
dedicated as ‘Perpetual Help Nivas’.
The inauguration was held following a high solemn mass at 6: 30
pm which was celebrated by Fr. Ligoury Crasta, the superior of
the house and preached by Fr. Sandeep Goveas. The teachers
rendered their voices to add to the solemnity of the day. After
the mass, everyone was ushered to the residential block. Br.
Prithesh Crasta welcomed the gathering and invited Fr. Walter to
bless the house. Fr. Walter Lobo did the honors of blessing the
house. After the blessing, Fr. Ligoury thanked the gathering.
Special thanks were offered to the Provincial, the Contractor
Wasim, supervisor Noor, the domestic staff for the cleaning the
house and all the teachers. The event was attended by the staff
of the school along with some guests from the Central University
of Kalaburagi (CUK). Following the inauguration everyone partook
in the solemn dinner prepared by the teachers!
