Book on Counselling released at Mapusa
A book 'Counselling: theories, techniques and practice', written
by Dr Praveen D'Souza, director of Emmaus Counselling Centre,
Mapusa was released by Fr Ivo Dias, superior of the Carmelite
Seminary at Peddem-Mapusa during the Christmas Mass.
Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao has written a forward to the book.
The book focuses on major Western as well as Eastern theories of
counselling. It also has a Spiritual theory of Counselling.
The theories answer four questions: What is the view of human
nature, what makes the person distressed, how to bring the
person from distress to wellness and what techniques to use.
The book not only deals with theories but also with the
practical application of theories to a case.
This book will be useful to lay people, religious, practicing
counsellors and students of counselling psychology.
Fr Praveen D'Souza, who hails from Agrar-Mangalore, has
completed his PhD in Counselling Psychology (Clinical) at De La
Salle University, Manila, Philippines.
The Karnataka-Goa Province congratulates Fr Praveen D’Souza and
wishes every success in his priestly ministry.
