Shivamogga MCS Inauguration and Blessing
On December 19, 2022, Mount Carmel School Shivamogga was officially inaugurated and blessed. Along with the guest priests, Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shimoga, and Rev. Fr. George Santhumayor, Provincial, were welcomed and led to the dais by the school band. The plaque was unveiled by Frs. Lawrence D'Mello and Provincial. Frs. Jerome Moras, Provincial and the Bishop, cut the ribbon to officially open the brand-new school building. Later, the bishop blessed the structure at the prayer of blessing and Holy Water.

The Most Reverend Francis Serrao, Rev. Fr. George Santhumayor, Rev. Fr. Stany Dsouza, the Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Cathedral and Dean of the Carmel Deanery, Rev. Fr. Deep Fernandes, the Provincial Councillor for Spirituality, Mr. Basavraj, the ECO of Shimoga, and Rev. Pastor P D Yesudas were all present on the dais for the stage programme that followed. Fr. Wilson D'Costa welcomed the guests with the assistance of the kids and staff, and Fr. Nelson Pinto officiated as the master of ceremonies.

Fr. Jerome expressed gratitude to everyone present, especially the benefactors and well-wishers, and presented gifts to the construction team and everyone else who contributed their mite towards completion of the school building. Fr. Jerome Moras and the community friars were specially thanked by the Provincial, Bishop, and Mr. Basavraj, the ECO of the Shimoga region in their speeches, for this new structure where children from all walks of life are given quality education. Shimoga ICYM workers distributed refreshments to the people as the stage programme came to a close. The cultural programmes soon began, with our school children moving to the music and performing a lovely dance that emphasized the meaning of Christmas. Our teachers joined us for the Christmas carols. The programme came to an end with the school anthem around 8:15 pm. Everyone who attended the inauguration and the programme had kind words to say as they exited the school grounds.
