The Blessing and Inauguration of the Newly
Constructed Grotto of Blessed Virgin Mary
The much-anticipated and joyous occasion of the blessing and
inauguration of the newly constructed Grotto of Blessed Virgin Mary
at St. Antony Church, Koteshwar Parish, unfolded on the 7th of
January 2024, immediately following the Mass.
The donor, Mr. Donald D'Silva, played a pivotal role in this
momentous event. He was bestowed with the honour of cutting the
ribbon, symbolizing the formal inauguration of the Grotto. In
recognition of his unparalleled generosity, Mr. D'Silva was
felicitated, and a special image of Mother Mary was presented to him
as a heartfelt memento, acknowledging his significant contribution.
The ceremony of blessing the Grotto was led by Fr Praveen Pinto, OCD,
the Parish Priest of St. Antony Church, Koteshwar. The sacred rites
were further enriched by the presence and participation of Fr Cyril
Menezes, OCD, the former Parish Priest of St. Antony Church,
Koteshwar, along with Fr Joe Tauro, OCD, and Fr Rocke D’Costa,
contributing to the solemnity of the occasion.
Mr. Walter Pinto, the architect, was commended and felicitated for
his exceptional expertise and dedication. The beauty and
significance of the structure stand as a testament to his skill and
commitment to the project.
The attendance of parishioners, religious sisters, members of the
Parish Council, and representatives from all commissions added to
the solemnity of the event.
