NEW YEAR CELEBRATION AT OUR LADY OF LOURDES SUBSTATION, MATEKA, SONGEA.
‘Begin Anew. Most of us will make resolutions as we begin the New Year but the essential thing is to keep up those resolutions. Mary lived by the promise she made to the Lord and in the same way we need to live by the promises we make to the Lord’ this is what, Rev. Fr. Baptist Fernandes OCD, the new member of the Carmelite Community preached in his homily during the thanksgiving mass on 31st December. The celebration at the vigil of the New Year 2015 began with a thanksgiving adoration from 7 PM to 8 PM, which was animated by the Youth of the substation under the leadership of Mr. Prosper. And then followed the solemn thanksgiving mass presided over by Fr. Baptist Fernandes. And after the mass the President of the Lay Council of the Substation, Mr. Franco welcomed Rev. Fr. Baptist Fernandes to Mateka.

On the New Year day, the solemnity of Mary the Mother of God was celebrated with great joy. The solemn Holy Eucharist began at 8 AM, which was presided over by Fr. Roshan Pinto, and in his homily he highlighted the presence of a heavenly mother in our lives to guide us and guard us.
