FLOS CARMELI, VITIS FLORIGERA
The one solemnity every Carmelite looks forward
without fail is the feast of our Lady of Mount
Carmel. She is not just our patroness but our
dear sister, mother, guide and our inspiration!
It really gives a proud feeling that we are the
first ones among the five primitive religious
orders that has dedicated itself to the
patronage of Mother Mary. And this compels us
not out of obligation but as a mark of respect,
admiration and gratitude to thank her for
protecting our Order and also a chance to throw
ourselves under her mantle.
Therefore the Carmelite community of
Pushpashrama celebrated this solemnity with
great joy along with the people on Sunday 14th
of July. Rev. Fr. Johannes Gorantla, the General
Definitor solemnized this celebration along with
fathers of Pushpashrama and the neighboring
Dhyanavana community. Fr. Johannes preached a
meaningful homily on the theme “Mary, the mother
of God and of all mankind” and brought out the
significance of the day’s celebration. The mass
was accompanied with the heavenly choir led by
the Pushpashrama brothers. Sisters from CCR
congregation and Dhyanavana along with the OCDS
participated in the liturgy. The OCDS also
brought gifts for the offering. Sisters from our
neighborhood also joined in the celebration.
After the communion, the scapulars were blessed.
A great number of faithful flocked from near and
far for the celebration and their presence
displayed their love towards Carmel. Scapulars
were distributed after the mass which concluded
at 9: 30 am. After the mass, the OCDS joined us
for breakfast and partook in the celebration by
conducting Tambola (Housie - Housie) game.
