A golden friar! – Postulancy Inauguration
Fr. Jossey Rodrigues, was to join his companions, Frs. Charles Serrao and Joe Tauro, to thank God for granting them 50 years in the garden of Carmel. Unfortunately, Fr. Jossey had to be admitted to hospital due to his varicose veins and it was not advisable for him to travel.

Due to the pandemic, it was decided to have a modest celebration in the presence of the Provincial. The entire community of Margao, gathered around the Eucharistic table on 25th of July, 2021. The 7 brothers who arrived here at the beginning of the month, were formally inducted into the postulancy. They are:
· Br. Calon Ujwal Coelho (Bajal)
· Br. Flostan D’Souza (Vamanjoor)
· Br. Glawin Lester D’Souza (Kelarai)
· Br. Jaden Dias (Quepem, Goa)
· Br. Premraj Monteiro (Narampady)
· Br. Jeevan Prakash D’Souza (Bela)
· Br. Sharon M. D’Souza (Siddapur, Karwar)

The last two have come from Mapusa, after completing the Initiation Course, while the remaining 5 were at Madanthyar for their PUC studies.

In his address, congratulating the jubilarian, Fr. Provincial shared some of the sterling qualities of Fr. Jossey and his immense service in various communities of the province. He described him as a “silent sufferer” who never complains or makes known his pain to others. In the last few years, he has faced many health issues, often leading to sleepless nights, but he has never stopped smiling and joyfully going about his duties in the monastery. While we thank God for his precious gift, we pray earnestly that God keeps and blesses him abundantly. The postulants wished the jubilarian in song and finally Fr. Jossey expressed his sentiments.

Due to travel restrictions and other cumbersome legal procedures, Fr. Jossey’s family members who were very eager to be present on the occasion, could not make it. We are grateful to them for their prayerful support.
