Mount Carmel Hostel, Ramnagar, Celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel for the First Time
In a historic moment for Mount Carmel Hostel, Ramnagar, the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Patroness of the hostel, was celebrated for the very first time on July 15, marking a significant milestone in its 18-year journey.

The celebration began at 6:00 PM with the Solemn Holy Eucharist. The main celebrant was Fr. Prakash D’Cunha, Provincial Councillor for Temporalities, who also preached a spiritually enriching homily on the theme “Mary, the Ark of the Covenant.” He was joined by five other priests: Fr. Cyprian Fernandes, Superior of the community, Fr. Melvin Lasrado, former Treasurer of Carmel Jnana Education Trust, Fr. Joachim Rodrigues, Fr. Fr. Movin Pereira, and Siltan Noronha. After the final blessing, Fr. Siltan Noronha led the blessing of the scapulars, which were then distributed to all the faithful gathered. Fr. Joachim Rodrigues eloquently expressed the vote of thanks, extending heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to making the celebration a profoundly enriching spiritual experience. He acknowledged with deep appreciation, the presence of devoted faithful from Londa, Ramnagar, and Watre, whose participation in the liturgy and choir added immense beauty and meaning to the solemn celebration. Moreover, he highlighted that the presence of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS) infused the occasion with a special joy and grace, uplifting the entire community in prayer and fellowship.

Following the Mass, Fr. Melvin Lasrado blessed a new school bus, a generous contribution from Carmel Jnana Education Trust to Mount Carmel CBSE School.

The evening continued with a lively cultural program presented by the hostel boys, showcasing their talents and devotion. A fellowship meal followed, bringing together priests, benefactors, friends, and the local faithful from Ramnagar in a spirit of joy and communion.

This first-ever celebration of the feast in the hostel was a beautiful testament to faith, gratitude, and community spirit
