In Her Embrace: Nine Days of Grace, One Grand
Feast
The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was
celebrated at a grand scale at the Sacred Heart
Monastery, Cloister Carmel, Mangalore. Carmelite
friars from the Asha Deepa community, Madanthyar,
preached nine days’ Novena Masses, in
preparation for this most solemn feast! Through
their meaningful homilies, the Carmelite Priests
enlightened the congregation about Our Lady,
touching upon the Biblical foundations, and
elaborating on the rich examples from her life!
The Feast Day, 16thJuly 2025, was a day of
prayer and adoration. After the morning Mass
Blessed Sacrament was exposed for adoration, and
sisters continued in prayer before the Lord.
Benediction was held at 5.00 p.m and at 5.30
p.m., the Solemn Mass was concelebrated by
Carmelite Friars and Episcopal Vicars of
Mangalore and Udupi Diocese. Rev. Fr. Joe Tauro
OCD, the episcopal Vicar for Religious, Udupi
Diocese, was the main celebrant. A meaningful
homily which he preached held the participants
in rapture (wonder). The convent’s chapel was
packed to the full and with the heavenly choir
led by Mr. Adolph Lobo and team resounded
melodiously. After the Mass, Scapulars and holy
pictures were distributed to the faithful!
Light refreshment was served to the Priests
present and to the OCDS members. Carmelite
Fathers and sisters shared joyous moments
greeting one another in the convent’s parlour.
The celebration was grand and sparked joy and
spiritual awe in the hearts of everyone who were
part of the Feast!
