Computer Training Programme for Prisoners in
Central Jail Kalaburagi
On July 17, 2025, the Carmel Jyothi Public
Charitable Trust and Prison Ministry India,
Gulbarga Diocese, organized a computer training
program for 30 prisoners at the Central Jail in
Kalaburagi. The program, sponsored by Carmel
Jyothi Public Trust with ₹30,000, aims to equip
prisoners with employable skills upon their
release.
The three-month training initiative was
inaugurated by Dr. Anitha, Chief Superintendent
of the Central Jail, along with Fr. Deepak
Thomas OCD, Superior of Carmelite Fathers, Fr.
William Miranda OCD, Director of Carmel Jyothi
Public Trust, and Fr. Maxim SJ, Secretary of
Prison Ministry India, Gulbarga Diocese.
During the inauguration, all 30 prisoners were
provided with T-shirts, notebooks, and pens.
This program seeks to empower prisoners towards
self-sufficiency and dignity, enabling them to
lead peaceful lives post-release.
Dr. Anitha emphasized that such initiatives can
contribute to reducing crime rates and fostering
happy family lives.
