Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel: A Joyful
Celebration
On July 16th, the Cloistered Carmelite Nuns of
Bangalore joyfully celebrated the Feast of Our
Lady of Mount Carmel, a day held in deep
reverence across the Order.
The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese, His
Excellency Joseph Susainathan graciously
presided over the Holy Mass, joined by three
Carmelite Fathers from Divya Sadan. The Mass
commenced at 7 a.m., with Sr. Christine reading
an insightful introduction on the significance
of Mount Carmel. His Grace delivered a moving
homily that beautifully reflected on the
Carmelite way of life and spirituality.
The Mass witnessed a heartfelt gathering of
friends, and benefactors, as well as devoted
pilgrims who arrived from far and wide. The
Feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel needs formal
invitations, such is the devotion to our Lady
and to her scapular. Hymns were soulfully sung
by the Sisters of St. Ann's, adding grace and
harmony to the celebration.
At the conclusion of Mass, the Bishop blessed
and distributed scapulars to all present. Mother
Prioress extended her warm gratitude through a
touching vote of thanks. Following the
Eucharist, breakfast was served to everyone
present. The Priests, Sisters, and well-wishers
then gathered in the parlour to greet and extend
their wishes to the Carmelite sisters.
A special note of gratitude was placed on record
to Rev. Fr. Alphonse Britto OCD, the
Councilor-in-charge of Spirituality, of the
Discalced Carmelites of Karnataka Goa Province,
for overseeing the arrangements, and to Fr. Anil
Veigas OCD and Fr. Jason Tellis OCD, for joining
the occasion and contributing to the grandeur of
the day.
May the Lord be ever praised, and may Mother
Mary of Mount Carmel continue to intercede and
protect us all.
