Scapular: A Celebration of Our Lady of Mount
Carmel
The Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was
joyfully celebrated on the 20th of this month at
St. Michael’s Church, Belur. In preparation for
the feast, a three-day novena was held
immediately after the daily Eucharist. Around 20
faithful participated with great enthusiasm. It
was the first time that the novenas were
conducted at the Parish.
On the Feast day, Fr. Prasanna, the Parish
Priest, was the main celebrant, with Fr. Joseph
Pinto and Fr. Prakash Tauro concelebrating the
Eucharist. The sermon touched upon the
historical Carmelite identity with references to
the varied Carmelite traditions.
To commemorate the occasion, scapulars, which
are a mark of this solemnity of the Blessed
Virgin, were distributed among the congregation.
A celebratory cake was shared to sweeten hearts
and bring a festive touch. More than 200
faithful were part of the celebration.
Fr. Prakash Tauro celebrated the Mass at the
Tholalu substation, after which scapulars and
cakes were also distributed. The joyful and
meaningful celebration of the feast raised the
hearts of everyone who partook of this solemn
occasion.
