Namma Kudla Region Holds First Fraternitas of
the New Triennium
The Namma Kudla Region (Mangaluru) held its
first Fraternitas of the present triennium on 28
July 2026 at St Joseph's Monastery, Bikarnakatte,
Mangaluru.
The programme began with a prayer service led by
Fr Ashwath D'Souza. This was followed by an
input session by Rev. Joe Tauro, who spoke on
the impact of Artificial Intelligence on
Religious Life, highlighting key insights from
the recent Papal encyclical Magnifica Humanitas.
The participants then engaged in group
discussions on the Carmelite response to the
challenges AI poses to today's youth and
families, particularly in the areas of work,
relationships, and human values.
Fr Ashwath D'Souza also conducted interactive
group activities. During the meeting, Fr Praveen
Pinto, Superior of Carmel Ashram, Koteshwar, was
unanimously elected as the Convener of the Namma
Kudla Region.
The gathering concluded with a visit to the
Grotto of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, where the
members honoured their Patroness.
