Anti child labor day
Carmel Jyothi Public charitable trust is known
for its social development activities. Now it is
two year that the trust has started “child
laborers’ residential school” in the campus of
Carmel Seva Sadan. At present there are 45
children. These children are from different
villages surrounding Hadagalli taluk. All of
them are either school dropouts or child
labourers who did not see the face of a school.
All of them are given shelter, food, clothing,
education and above all the love of Christ.
On the 12 of June, Carmel Jyothi Public
charitable trust conducted the anti child Labor
Day. To mark this occasion an awareness program
was conducted. This included a procession on the
streets of Hadagali town, and a stage program
near the main circle of the town. Mr. Yamanappa
Tavanappa civil judge of hadagali was the
president. Fr. Rajesh D’Souza the director of
Carmel Jyothi public charitable trust welcomed
the dignitaries, Mr. Kotresh BEO was the chief
guest, Mr.Vishwajith Mehtha Thasildar of
hadagali, Fr. Joseph Dsouza, Mr. Jagadish
Assistant Public Prosecutor, lawyer A. Kotresh
were the guest of honor and many other
dignitaries were also present. Dignitaries in
their speeches urged the people to work hard to
eradicate the child labour. It is an antisocial
element which hinders the development of the
state and the country. At the end of the program
the children from the child labourers’
residential school performed the cultural
events.
