Altar Servers Day
At 7:30am on June 13th, 27 Altar Servers
attended Mass celebrated by Father Steny
Mascarenhas, (at that time, Assistant Pastor of
St. Edmund's Parish, North Vancouver, BC).
Father Steny and the group then boarded a bus
and headed towards Westminster Abbey, Mission,
BC.
Members of the Benedictine Community lead the
Servers on a tour of the beautiful buildings and
grounds of the Monastery. Abbot John Braganza,
OSB spoke to the group about the importance of
reverence when serving in Church.
Back on the bus, they headed for St. Anthony of
Padua, Agassiz, BC (Father Steny's new Parish)
where they enjoyed some games on the lawn and,
after Grace, ate a delicious lunch. A quick side
trip to Harrison Hot Springs (a popular holiday
site) was followed by a short visit to the new
Carmelite Formation House located in Deroche,
BC.
The happy group arrived back at St. Edmund's
Parish on time and grateful to everyone who had
made the day so memorable. They were also happy
to each have a t-shirt especially made to
commemorate the outing.
