K.G. PROVINCE SALUTES THE NEW DOCTOR
June 23, 2016 – was a red letter day in the life
of Fr Alphonse Britto and the Karnataka Goa Province, as he
successfully defended his doctoral thesis on the theme –
“Integration of Christian Spirituality and Contemplation in
the life and teachings of Pope John Paul II: A Study with a
special reference to His Apostolic Exhortations
Christifideles Laici, Pastores Dabo Vobis and Vita
Consecrata”. The doctoral defense was held at the Pontifical
Theological Faculty and Pontifical Institute of
Spirituality, Teresianum, Rome. It was commenced at 16-00
hours which was attended by sizeable number of Carmelites
from Teresianum, Santa Maria della Scala and Santa Maria
Empoli and his friends.
The moderator Prof. Bruno Moriconi OCD applauded the
research of the new doctor. At the same time the other
examiners such as Prof. Francis Chittuparambil OCD and Prof.
Adrian Attard OCD conveyed their appreciation for the
methodical development of the thesis. The new doctor
efficiently responded the queries of the examiners.
The entire research was comprised of four chapters where the
new doctor has integrated the aspect of spirituality and
contemplation according to the teachings of John Paul II.
The panel of assessors were pleased with the research work
and the president of the faculty on behalf of all the
examiners declared officially saying – we have a new doctor
in the person of Dr Alphonse Britto. After which all the
participants felicitated the new doctor and participated in
the joy sharing the sweets and the snacks. The K.G. Province
rejoices and salutes the new doctor in the field of
Spirituality and wishes him every success in the years to
come.
