HABEMUS DOCTOREM

We the Discalced Carmelites of the K.G. Province delight in the person of Rev Fr Wilfred Pais who successfully defended his Doctoral thesis on the theme “Women Discipleship: A Model for the Disciples in the Gospel of Mark”. The defense was held at Pontifical University of Urbaniana, Rome at 3-00pm on June 10, 2015.

The doctoral thesis of Fr Wilfred was guided by Prof. Crimella Matteo, a renowned biblical scholar and a professor at the Urbaniana. The panel of examiners comprised of professors Crimella Matteo, Gieniusz Andrzej and Bazzi Carlo. The panel members expressed their whole hearted appreciation for the systematic and comprehensive presentation and development of the thesis. In the words of the moderator, the entire research work is very scientific with rich insights and quotations from several works in major European languages. The research comprised of seven chapters with a General introduction and General conclusion.

The doctoral defense was witnessed by the Carmelite Friars from Scala, Teresianum, Empoli and others. Besides, there were religious sisters from the neighboring convents. Fr Archibald Gonsalves, the ex-provincial was the guest of honour as Fr Wilfred commenced his doctoral studies during his tenure. The culmination of the celebration was when the first Carmelite doctor from the Tanzania Mission cut the cake and shared his happiness and joy.
