NOTTE MISSIONARIA AT SCALA, ROME
November 15, 2014 - A group of youths who
are members of “Gioventù e Famiglia Missionaria
– una nuova evangelizzazione” (Youths and
Missionary Family : the new evangelization) who
are the lay members of the Legionario di Cristo
– a religious order founded in Massico held a
vigil at Santa Maria Della Scala, Rome from 8-30
pm to 12-00am. The vigil commenced with a Holy
Mass where the missionaries received a "mandate"
after which they began a long adoration which
included Eucharistic adoration with divine
praises, prayers and moments of silence.
This is a unique experience of the young people
aimed to witness the love of Jesus to others
especially other young people like them. The
young people who are members of this mission
(between 17 and 28 years old) invite the
passers-by going to the streets near the church,
street corners near the pub and the places of
aggregation to make a short visit to the church
where the vigil is being conducted. The
invitation is simple and, spontaneous. Later all
the young people offer their prayers and
supplication to the Eucharistic Lord by offering
the lighted candle and writing a prayer
intention on the card which will be left at the
foot of the altar. During the vigil there is an
opportunity for people to confess their sins.
Let us pray that this particular mission bring
many young people to experience the presence of
the Eucharistic Lord in their day today life.
